Re: C/L 42/2010 on “Limited alleviation of moratorium on filling of Posts of      Responsibility for 2010/11 school year”. 

Please find attached C/L 42/2010 on “Limited alleviation of moratorium on filling of Posts of Responsibility for 2010/11 school year”. 

The main points are as follows:

Ø  Programme Co-ordinators at Assistant Principal level which became vacant before 1^st June 2010 need to be notified to the DES in order to ascertain whether or not the school is entitled to fill the position. 

Ø  The post of Adult Education Director which became vacant before 1^st June 2010 can be filled by the school while the DES should be notified if the position becomes vacant after June 1^st 2010.  The selection process is the same as for Deputy Principal. 

Ø  If a school has fallen below the threshold for the overall number of Assistant Principals set out in the table on page 3 of the Circular and shown below then it may fill the shortfall.  All new promotional procedures for Assistant Principal posts should be filled in accordance with the revised promotion procedures.
