Education Conference 2010 Postponed

It has been decided that the Education Conference scheduled for Saturday 24th April next will not now take place. This is due to the particular pressure of ongoing business and on schools at that time. It is noted that NCCA has published a document entitled Innovation and Identity: Ideas for a new Junior Cycle which is available on the NCCA website. This document marks the beginning of a study into the Junior Cycle and the Junior Certificate examination. We hope that this will form the subject of a valuable education conference later in the year.

Procedures for the Suspension and Dismissal of Teachers and School Principals

An explanatory seminar on these newly agreed arrangements will be held on April 28th next. This one-day information and workshop session will take place in the Mullingar Park Hotel. A more detailed notice of the arrangements will be sent out in due course following ACCS Convention 2010 in Westport..

Annual Conference of the National Trustee Forum – change of date.

This conference, originally scheduled for May 12 2010 will now take place on Thursday May 13th in the Mullingar Park Hotel. Details will follow in due course.

Scheduler and Administration

A 2 day course on scheduler and Administration software is being arranged as outlined in the attached notice. Those interested are asked to return the attached booking form to  ACCS Head Office without delay (before Friday 19th March) so that arrangements can be finalised.

New initiatives from the NCSE

1.       New arrangements for the allocation of Special Needs resources in the coming school year have been outlined in an NCSE Circular Letter 02/10 which has been circulated to all schools.

2.       The NCSE has established a formal procedure for appeal of SENO decisions in relation to the allocation of teaching hours and special needs assistants to schools to support the education of children with special educational needs.

Details of these arrangements can be accessed on the NCSE website or through a link on www.accs.ie
