ACCS Induction Programme for newly appointed Principals and Deputies held in Athlone

The induction programme for newly appointed principals and deputy principals of ACCS schools took place in the Sheraton Hotel Athlone on the 10th and 11th of August 2026. There were 25 attendees from different parts of the country who are taking on new leadership roles in our schools. ACCS have in the past few years worked in collaboration with Óide in delivering an induction course for the newly appointed principals and deputy principals. This has proven to be very successful as it provides the attendees with different aspects and perspectives of the practicalities of running a school.

On day one the attendees were given guidance on the day-to-day management of schools, an overview of human resources and the different types of leave. Attendees were also given the opportunity to describe their hopes and aspirations in their new roles. The first day concluded with the opportunity to meet with each other over dinner as they embark on their new professional journey.

On the second day, the group covered topics such as financial governance, patronage in ACCS schools and other aspects of school management and leadership. The induction programme continued with input from Óide and NAPD.  The induction programme was greatly successful and ACCS are delighted to welcome such an enthusiastic and positive group of school leaders and look forward to working with them in the future.
