ACCS Information Note: Junior Cycle 2026 Results - Important SEC Update

Dear Colleagues,

Please see the important update issued today by the State Examinations Commission (SEC) regarding the 2026 Junior Cycle Results.

Dear Prinicpal

The purpose of this email is to advise you that the pdf of the Statement of Provisional Junior Cycle Results issued this morning by the SEC contains an incorrect grade descriptor. Any school that accessed the results pdf before 10.30 should arrange to discard any documents that were downloaded from the pdf files.  The regenerated pdf files will be available at 1 o’clock today and they can then be downloaded by all schools. 

It is important to note that the results shown on the provisional statement of results are correct for each individual candidate. The only incorrect element on the pdf is the grade bands descriptors at the bottom of the provisional statement.

Junior Cycle Results 2026

At 10 AM this morning the SEC’s Schools Portal opened to provide schools with their results in electronic format. Schools can access the portal at https://schools.examinations.ie/ and have access to the following:

  • A tabular report in PDF format showing examination results for each candidate.

  • The same tabular report in CSV format which we are advised can be imported into the school’s content management systems for analysis.

  • The Junior Cycle subject codes which you will need to read the tabular reports is available at Appendix 1.

  • Digital supplementary reports of results for individual candidates in your school will be presented in report format at the end of the PDF tabular report of results.

All of the above information is correct and we are regenerating the following:

  • The digital file of Statements of Provisional Results for all candidates in the school. Schools should arrange to print the Statements of Provisional Results, which are in PDF format, and prepare them for issue to candidates, the updated version will be available at 1 PM today.

We apologise that this has arisen and we are working to rectify it as quickly as possible.

School Authorities with enquiries about the results that they have received should contact the SEC on 1800 111 135 or 1800 111 136.

This number will operate from 10 AM on Wednesday 7 October and will deal with enquiries on the results from school authorities.

In general, matters raised by candidates or their parents that necessitate contact with the SEC should be processed through the school authority concerned. Individual candidates or their parents who nonetheless wish to contact the SEC directly should be advised to call 090 6442700 (switchboard) or to send an e-mail to info@examinations.ie
